Abe Muriata is a traditional basket maker from the Murray Upper area, between Cardwell and Tully. He talks about how he learnt how to make the baskets, by looking at old examples at a museum. The process of making each basket is very time-consuming. Abe shows one particular basket that took him two months to complete. This is a Storylines Q150 digital story. This digital story was made by the State Library of Queensland with funding from the Queensland Government. It is a legacy of the Q150 celebrations in 2009.

Such a talented man, I agree he should be able to pass this talent on so that this beautiful technique is not lost. Wish I was able to produce something like this.
