A lot of people are used to the song "Feelings" by Morris Albert, sure he has done a fine job with it also providing it with English lyrics, but few of you will know this:
On 22 December 1988, "Feelings" was officially declared by a California court to be a plagiarism of the work of French songwriter Loulou Gasté, who composed the song "Pour Toi" (For You) in 1956 for his wife Line Renaud, but didn't become successful with it. Gasté won 88% of the royalties. Basically Albert stole the melody.

The song was also mentioned in the composer Loulou Gaste's entry in Wikipedia:

and for the court ruling:

I think the judgement is right, both songs are almost identical and the is no doubt in my mind that Morris Albert has copied it. The melody here is 100% identical to "Feelings" especially after the guitar solo at 1:50.
Whether or not you agree with the court and judgement makes no difference to my opinion of Morris Albert stealing the melody. If the court thought so, that's good enough for me.
