  • Brett Jones from Fed Surplus, from what I remember, is now doing props in Hollywood, and doesn't have much time to work on fan props now :-(. but I guess thats the ultimate goal of the prop maker. hahah

This is absolutely amazing! I notice that these and the Dstines electronics seem very similar, if not the same. I wonder if they are the same...

    Awesome work!

  • These electronics were designed by me, which were used in all the Dstines tricorders. They have many more features than the fed surplus ones...

  • I dissagree it sure doesnt. Not to mention the sound when opening and closing is not even close!

  • 1 You have no clue how much work goes into properly setting up a electronics board to have everything work properly do you?

2 If you shoved an Ipod into a playmates toy you wouldn't have the quality shown here because the playmate toys are not replicas. They are stickers on plastic with 3 little leds and very limited sounds.

3 They had to custom mold the plastic to have the housing for the board. The actual show props cost more and all they do is light up.

  • Federation Surplus tricorders are the most accurate because they come from screen used molds and designs. DStines tricorders, which are the same as Hyperdyne Labs tricorders, are different and LED based. They are operated by a single button.

  • Wow... so in the future as a rule, you have to make a device so noisy it's practically useless when trying to stay oh I dunno discreet? It's like Christmas!!!
