Fishbelly participated the 2nd Annual Corporate Challenge on August 5, 2009. This tournament was a charity event. It had 21 boats having a total of three anglers on each boat including a pro. It was out of Port Colborne on Lake Erie, Ontario. The tournament started from 11AM to 4PM. Team Fishbelly caught 7-8 fish between 1 to 3 lbs. We were allowed to keep only 3 fish for weigh-in that total with the highest weight.

A little less than two hours before weigh-in, Kai hooked a big smallie (weighing about 5.5 to 6 lbs) took a last spectacular jump 5 feet away from the boat and shook off the hook. Better luck next time!

That smallie was hooked on a modified drop-shot rig with a football jighead on a 5" Hawg Shad (#28S Milky Greenback).

  • There are two humps - one near the port and the other towards the falls about 2 miles apart. Without GPS, it's difficult to tell.

  • 2 mile marker off port with tubes. find the hump thats about 35-40ft surounded around 50, They school, and are pretty much gonna get a 4+ pounder every 5 minutes.

  • For sure...

Those smallies are gouging themselves getting ready for the winter. 6-7lbs will be average with girth! Go get 'em!

  • I would crush in lake erie right know, I bet i would get a 25lbs bag for sure.
