I won't carry an ID card, EVER. they can put me in jail. ID cards are a crime against personal liberty.
-
I dont think there is great deal wrong with id cards as long as it is not compulsory and the cost of getting one doesnt fall on the individual. there should also be limitation an the type and amount of personal data stored in the database. I am 100% against a national DNA database because it could have a dramatical impact on the life of about 40% of population in every aspect of one's financial activities, from getting life insurance, getting a mortgage, to even just getting a job. .

The whole concept is utterly, utterly sinister. Germany's constitutional court ruled ANPR cameras to be an illegal intrusion into people's lives - Germany knows only too well what life was like under a totalitarian regime. When I vote, my fingerprints are on the ballot paper and I will NOT consent to the state or its cohorts' free use of that data as they damn well please.
-
this is crazy!
-
For those who dont know, when the red terror was in full swing and the rounds ups started in germany the moto was "If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear".
Its the MANTRA of dictators.
-
The ID cards are the tip of the iceberg. If you don't see the problem with constant surveillance then would you care if I was watching you right now on your computer?
-
If you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to fear...that line is always trotted out by naive individuals.
DNA database - 3 problems:
1) even the existing database is full of mistakes: if we're all on it, the chance of false accusations goes up.
2) dna isn't 100% reliable - many samples from crime scenes are partial. If the police start charging people just because their dna is a partial match, not because of other evidence, there'll be more wrongful convictions.
3) How long before insurance companies buy the database? If your dna shows potential for a disease, no chance of life insurance!

Whats the "Magna Carta" badge about?.
KingGinger1988 4 years ago
In the story, it's the badge of a civil rights group - but the point is, the magna carta was the start of our civil liberties which are being destroyed
