NB: the approach described here is exactly what Head Start should have been doing all these years in order to give disadvantaged students cultural parity with advantaged students....If parents are not discussing foundational knowledge at home then schools must immediately fill the gaps.

    I recently read that Head Start didn't have much "cognitive" content. In which case, all that money can end up creating a costly baby-sitting service. What we need is actual teaching of actual knowledge, from day one.
