In this episode of the Running Raw Project: Tim Van Orden discusses the many misconceptions of dietary protein. Tim reveals some hidden truths about protein and discusses the benefits of enzymes (a type of protein machine) for supplying amino acids. Most people incorrectly believe that dietary protein must come from animal muscle or dairy products. But Tim points out that plants are full of protein, much of it in the form of enzymes, peptides and amino acids in the labile state. Tim also points out that protein consumed does not go directly to muscle growth and repair, but first must be broken down into its component amino acids before being reassembled as needed into muscle protein and enzymes for metabolic use.
.
What are the best sources of plant protein?
• Dark leafy greens are protein packed.
• Hemp seeds contain all 9 essential amino acids and are a protein powerhouse. They also contain large amounts of omega 3 fatty acids.

This video is b.s. for one simple reason -- he supplements with hemp protein. Watch him make his morning smoothie. Guess what? HEMP PROTEIN.

Note the key word there, hemp PROTEIN.

    This is ridiculous.

3:26 and this is one of the reasons why the food pyramids and standard nutritional science are on the wrong track, leading our society further and further down the road of disease and obesity.

I love everyone rips on him having no muscle. Vegan or not, he's a fucking ultra marathoner. I think ANYONE would be a fucking stick in that type of sport. Look up mac danzig for a vegan with some muscle i guess. But i swear everyone shoots their arguments out of their ass at this point. Has anyone ever considered to do what they FEEL. Fuck man, its always think think think. Sometimes, its just good to do what feels right, but that's just my two cents!

You are right on some levels. However, an enzyme is a protein - a complex string of amino acids with a specific sequence designated to do a specific function and or action. Don't separate the two. Secondly, the protein and it's brother the other protein called enzymes are not just middle men or "carriers". The collective nature, the specific sequence of aminos makes them a critical whole. Just like parts of a car may be critical but only as a collective, in tandem with other parts.

raw vegan is BS. there is NO proof that a vegan diet is better than a good omnivore diet. i was vegan and i didn't feel more energetic or less tired.
