When I arrived at the Hollywood and Vine Redline Station and got up to the street I found the intersection was closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic for some sort of police activity. Through the crowd I could see at least two cars that appeared to have collided, there were far too many LAPD units present for it to have been a typical traffic accident. My guess is that there must have been a pursuit that resulted in a collision.
The police had the area cordoned off quite a distance from the intersection, preventing not only through traffic, but also preventing people from going into some of the nieghborhood businesses.
After taking the long way around I got to thinking that I should walk back up Vine and see if the Katsuya Resturant was inaccessable as well. Sure enough, the LAPD's "Police Line-Do Not Cross" tape was specially routed to allow access to Katsuya.
Let's face it, Los Angeles, specifically Hollywood exists because of the entertainment industry. And because Katsuya is a favorite watering hole for many celebrities the LAPD wouldn't dare prevent access. I am sure that there will be nasty phone calls and e-mails to Chief Bratton tomorrow just because there was no access to valet parking.

The chase began just before 7 p.m. when Grigor Grigoryan led Glendale police from an unknown location in Glendale to Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, said Sgt. Tom Lorentz of the Glendale Police Department.
Police found Grigoryan's 36-year-old girlfriend dead in a home in the 600 block of West Stocker Street around 2 p.m. and determined the scene was
