This is the original recording from 1977--the 45 that Eddie Blazonczyk installed in the jukeboxes of all the Chicago polka taverns. For YouTube, I had to compress the audio a bit, but I still have copies from the 900 that were originally pressed.

So, here's a five-minute story of how Wallbash came to be.

Yep, I played a Conn Connstellation 36B on this. WackieJackie is playing his '60s Zildjian cymbals; the engineer insisted Jack play the studio's drums that day--white Pearls...rock drums!--because they had already been miked.

Use pause if the text goes by too fast...or if you like to read slowly and thoroughly, like I do.

  • You're certainly most welcome. And, thank you for creating this proof of Polka Power and then uploading it to YouTube so that the whole world can hear the Joy, Life, and Power of Polka Music. In the coming months, as the economy and the world situation collapses, Polka music will rise again. And, then, in the words of the great Jazz singer, Al Jolson, "You ain't heard nothin, yet."

  • @ThePolka AMEN! That is most inspiring, thank you. And it's a great feeling to know, although we recorded this 33 years ago, it still inspires folks like you.

  • Bravo! I loved every beat, every lick, every kick, every riff, every hand clapping note. A very powerful song. And, in my estimation, one of the Best In Polka. The drumming was excellent, the trumpet was superb, the accordion was bright and lively...The whole project was tight. It;s definitely a masterpiece.

  • @ThePolka Oh, my, wow. THANK YOU so very much!

  • Just to let u know, I heard Sturrs arrangement of this.,. You kicked thier ash.. Awesome!!!

  • @polskiej Hey there, hello again, did you get my first reply? I'd gladly send you a new unplayed copy. Well, you know, as far as that theif, Sturr, yes he stole my idea but it was just too much for his men to handle, as great as they play. I mean, Wallbash was tailored to my playing. As great as those guys are, it was like wearing shoes that don't fit for them. Sturr should feel ashamed for putting his fine musicians through that humiliation. I can even e-mail you an Mp3.

  • @polskiej CONTINUED: I've been stuck in apartments all these years, where I can't really practice or do any PC recording. But to this day I'm still composing and arranging polka stuff just cuz I love it. Only thing is, no one's really heard any of it. I compose it on my Finale Note Pad program, and score the bass and trumpets, etc, then I listen and have to accept it in that not-s-realistic-sounding MIDI. Hey, with a little imagination, I hear the real trumpets, the accordian and drums.

  • @polskiej Hello there. First, you really made my day, thanks! And the least I can do to show my appreciation is to mail you a copy, if I may have your address through e-mail.

On Wallbash, I was playing a Conn Connstellation 36B trumpet with a Bach 3C mouthpiece. I've always wanted to redo Wallbash, because, although the trumpets sound OK, they were quite compressed.

Yes, I'm still playing--or, I should say, able to play. In other words, I'm not playing as much as I should. CONTINUED

  • Totally awesome... How can I get a copy of the 45.. Would fit in nicely with my old Blaz and Gomulka 45's. Do u still play horn?? What size mp did u play? What else is out there for me to hear. Great stuff!!!! Thanks

    EJK
