I'm sure alot of my normal viewers are wondering why I made this video. There are two reasons.

1. Sukeban Deka is actually a fun show to watch. Then again...the 80s were the golden age of entertainment in Japan and especially Toei.

2. This is what Bandai should be doing with Super Sentai. They're doing it with these Adult Rider Belts already... Why can't we have reasonably priced memorial toys for Super Sentai?

That said...here is my review of a fine piece of 80s Pop Culture...the Sukeban Deka 80's Yoyo + Tekkamen DX Set.

In 2006 a new Sukeban Deka film was released titled "Sukeban Deka: Codename Asamiya Saki" スケバン刑事 コードネーム=麻宮サキ or as it's simply known on the US DVD Version "Yo-Yo Girl Cop". This movie, along with CDs and other goodies, were put out in response to excellent DVD sales of the TV series. Which brings us to this review...

When I first saw this set for sale, I bought it. It wasn't a matter of debate or putting it on my wish list...it was an immediate purchase. I don't regret it one bit either.

This set contains two yoyos [one action, one display], a 1/6 Scale Replica Tekkaman [worn by Yoko Minamino in Sukeban Deka II] all contained in this excellent black and red display packaging. The packaging features silhouettes of Yuki Saito, Yoko Minamino and Yui Asaka who are Sukeban Deka I,II,III respectively.

The Display Yoyo is completely made of metal...right down to the chain. While using this Yoyo is not recommended, you can still press the button on the edge of the Yoyo to open the lid and reveal the "sakura no daimo" emblem.

The Action Yoyo works as a real Yoyo which can be whipped around and used as a weapon like in the show...or just as a regular Yoyo... This version also has the opening lid feature to reveal the "sakura no daimo". However, because of the emblem, the Yoyo is a bit off balance when used as a Yoyo.

The Mini Tekkamen is a very well detailed version of the Iron Mask featured in Sukeban Deka II. It can be removed from it's display head and placed on a doll if you really wanted to do so. The paint work is absolutely great on this.

All in all, this is a wonderful set not to be missed by any fans of Sukeban Deka [...or Yoyos...]. I can't stress this enough...it's an affordable piece of history which there needs to be alot more of on the toy market. Bandai has proven here that they don't have to market a toy for $200+ for Adult fans of series past.

Thank you for watching my review of this set! I will be back to normal shortly!

Song: "rakuen no DOOR" by NANNO [Yoko Minamino/Sukeban Deka II]. This is also the theme song from the 1987 Sukeban Deka movie.
