Every year, Notre Dame Engineering students design and build robotic football players as part of their Senior Design project. The project, now in its 3rd year, culminates with the Blue-Gold Mechatronic Football Game held on Notre Dame's campus.

This video demonstrates the passing success of the 2011 Blue Team Quarterback, Sleepy Jim (#12), and Blue Team Wide Receiver, Michael Droid (#3). The robots utilize infrared and sonar wireless communications technology in order to relay the location and distance of the Receiver relative to the Quarterback.
