Molly - 7 month old Border Collie pup being fostered for Pacific Northwest Border Collie Rescue in Western WA. Nov, 2007, Smokey Point, WA. This was the first time this pup had ever seen sheep. She went from initially growling at them to what you see in the video in only 30 minutes. It was wonderful to see her instinct kick in. The instructor said she had good balance; going both directions nicely, and has potential to be a stylish herder. He was impressed with how well she took the pressure he put on her. He gave her an "A+".

  • The herding instinct in Border Collies is incredible. Many years ago my son brought a black and white puppy home from the animal shelter. At the time I didn't know anything about the Border Collie breed. I thought it was just a mutt. When he was about a year old he managed to get out of my house. I found him outside hearding a woman who was pushing her baby in a stroller with her young son walking beside her. Since I always walked him on a leash he had no prior experience herding.
