Julia Davis, federal officer with the Department of Homeland Security, discovers a national security breach related to the entry of 23 aliens from terrorist countries into the United States on 4th of July - designated as a "date to watch" of paramount importance to the safety of the U.S.
After local port management fails to act on this information, Julia Davis makes a report to the FBI/JTTF.
A Los Angeles Times reporter approaches Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Robert Bonner, asking questions about Julia Davis' report to the FBI/JTTF. Bonner can't afford any more media scrutiny, since his incompetence was already exposed in the NASA "Challenger" disaster.
To avoid the scandal, the full might of the government is unleashed against Julia Davis, her family and witnesses. The retaliation reaches an unprecedented magnitude.
