Major Slack's Crysis Review - http://majorslack.com/new-pc-games/crysis-review/ * * * * *
An action packed run through the 1st level of the Crysis PC video game showcasing the gameplay and featuring a spectacular jump with a jeep plus at least 11 explosions.
THE METHOD BEHIND THIS MADNESS
Out of necessity, speed runs have to ignore a large part of the gameplay (since killing enemies and picking up items uses up valuable time). What I wanted to do with this speed run was actually showcase some of the gameplay in Crysis. So, in effect, this is not a 'real' speed run, hence I'm calling it a 'thunder run' (working title, I may think of something better later on).
The purpose of a 'thunder run' is to cover a lot of enemy infested ground, work in as many killls, stunts and special effects as possible and do all that as quickly as possible to keep it entertaining.
This particular run represents a single take (i.e., I did the whole thing in one shot, it was not pieced together from several different takes) and is named after a stunt I pulled off at the 6:31 mark where I managed to tightrope along the top of a fence. (That was by accident. Everything was planned.)
BLOOPERS
Naturally, I had to do this run a number of times before I got some takes that I was satisfied with and in the process of doing so, I managed to pull some real spectacular boners, a couple of which I included in the 'Spectacular Bloopers' section at the end of the video.
Re: The 'Overkill' blooper... As always, the plan was to ram my jeep into the enemy jeep on the right thus blowing up both jeeps (and preventing the enemy from calling in reinforcements) and then commandeer the jeep on the left. Of course, things don't always go according to plan... ..(*ahem*)... ooopsie-daisy....heh heh...
Re: The 'Wild Spin Jump' blooper... Sheesh... I don't know how the hell I did that. That jump is hard enough to make on the run the 'normal' way..
STATS
And just for posterity, here are some quick stats for this particular run..
Enemies Killed: 26
Jeeps Commandeered: 3
Jeeps Destroyed: 3
Visual Explosions: 11
Objectives Completed: 2
Time: 7:15
DISCLAIMER
Finally, I'd like to mention that no disrespect is intended whatsoever to those that make 'real' speed runs or to the speed run community. I enjoy watching real speed runs and I am quite impressed by the time and dedication it takes to make them.
you did a J turn in mid air. wow. that is something you don't see everyday.

Normal, not Easy. I've never ever played Crysis on Easy.

Yeah you're right. But I wasn't really going for a difficulty factor here but rather a fun factor. And I think it's a lot more fun playing with a driver controlled gun. But I have played on Delta extensively. I have a Warhead 1st level 'real' speed run posted here that I did on Delta.
