I was born in England, yes - what's your point? I've heard enough from relatives and read enough about how things were and are in Derry. "Using the march as an excuse to make trouble"? So are you trying to tell me if Sinn Féin were to hold a march through Rathcoole celebrating the Rising of 1916, the Loyalists would sit by and let it happen? Would they fuck.

Looks like the Loyalist tradition of spreading lies and propaganda is still going strong. The IRA had pretty much given up the armed struggle until after August 1969; the Apprentice Boys were the provocative ones, trying to whip up a hornet's nest by marching through Catholic areas.

That was one dumb news reporter standing with his back to a crowd of people throwing rocks and petrol bombs in his direction.. With a brain like that he's probably in upper management in the BBC or someplace.

You obviously know very little about the corrupt oppresive force that was the RUC.
-
@LordWellington15 but the police force were exclusively protestant and that's the way the government liked to keep it in their attempt to "stub out" grievances. the first violence seen in northern ireland in the sixties was initiated by the RUC and B specials. they were the arm of a sectarian state looking after the interests of that state, not a defender of the community (well, the defender of ONE community).

I dont understand how the police can invade. The police work for the government and the government owns the land which the people live on. They arent invading.

@Noddy1690 You can't? I wonder if you cross referenced Apprentice Boys membership with membership of loyalist paramilitaries how many matchs you would get??
-
Apprentice Boys? Bogside? I think not..... I'll think you find the march at no stage entered the Bogside... They never have and very likely never will.
-
But the principle is the same. Loyalists would never allow a march organised by Sinn Féin or any other Republican group go through their streets, so why should the Republicans not react against Apprentice Boys marches through theirs? A rule for one, a rule for another it would seem...
How long are apprenticeships in Ulster?
freethequeen 2 years ago
what kind of question is that?
monkeyapplenerd 2 years ago
Well it means exactly what it says - Some of those apprentice boys look quite old, here in England we usually finish our apprenticeships in our late teens or early twenties.

are you stupid the apprentice boys were not really apprentices they were a fraternal association
