This is a segment of video shot by League of American Bicyclists Certified Instructor (LCI) Brian DeSousa of Dual Chase Productions (dualchase.com). LCI Keri Caffrey is driving her bicycle in rush hour on a Thursday afternoon on a main road out of the city of Orlando. Keri demonstrates the ease of riding in traffic when one controls the lane. There was no honking or yelling; motorists simply changed lanes or waited to turn. You can learn these same traffic skills from instructors in you area. See: http://www.bikeleague.org/programs/education/course_schedule.php to find a class.

  • I like the road possisioning, but you make the turn at the intersection over 10 seconds after indicating.

Your last signal is so short and early that it would not give anyone any indication of your intentions and it almost makes you crash...

  • @myforwik - The last signal did not "almost make Keri crash". I don't understand why you think she was near crashing. Regarding the first signal, had any motorist been nearby, they would have understood her intention, both by the signal and certainly by the lane position she adopted, far left of center.

  • SEVERAL MILLION DOLLARS on special bike trails and yet another cyclist thinks its ok to hole up traffic during rush hour. Why don't you people get it??

  • @Juan4UK - Keri was simply driving her bicycle, because she rides for transportation, and if you weren't so blindly prejudiced, you'd realize that special bike facilities are a distraction from real bicycle transportation, because bicyclists need to reach all the same destinations as other drivers on the road network, rain or shine, day or night.

  • When I was 14 I rode my bicycle to work in Homestead, FL. That was back in 1977. Today I live in Minneapolis, MN and many motorist break the laws, heck, even the bicyclists do not know traffic laws... I feel like a freak because I still follow traffic laws and I can go for months without seeing one person not break traffic laws around me.

I miss living in Flordia. If America ever becomes a peaceful country again, I'm moving back..

  • Looks like the white truck driver is in a hurry to get somewhere..hence why he's riding closely behind you

  • Excellent video, as always :)

  • he he. The van was still there
