@liambannin A flop shot goes really high and stops immediately or soon after hitting the green (depending on the slope of course). A pitch shot has a lower trajectory and will roll more when it hits the green.

I cant do this. It's my dumbest weakness. I try to pitch and all I do is shovel dirt and the ball travels about ten inches up and five inches forward.

@liambannin yes the length of the back swing is part of it (going farther back in the swing), but most importantly the flop shot needs to have a more open club face, this will help the ball get in the air quickly.

notice that he moves his hands back to 1/2 way...then all he does is turn his hips (just the hips) this drops the head of the club right on the ball ..popping it up softly. that is all there is to it. try this. ...to get the feel for what i am saying..take your club and put it right out in front of you...turn your shoulders ONLY ...no hips. now turn your hips left and see that you will end in a nice follow through position. now do this same thing but at the ball ...great feel..great results
