Dear Mr. Cain:

Thank you for sharing your support for legislation that decriminalizes marijuana for adults. Drug abuse and addiction are issues that concern me greatly. Though we do not agree on this issue, I appreciate the opportunity to respond.

The American Medical Association and the National Institute on Drug Abuse, among others, have documented the negative impacts of marijuana use on the human body. The use of illegal drugs affects the quality of life for all Americans. Drug abuse, trafficking and the resulting violence negatively affects our communities and places undue burdens on the legal and healthcare systems. It is our responsibility to provide adequate resources for education about the harmful effects of drug use and resources for the treatment of addiction. If we strive to eliminate the problems resulting from drug use, we can provide a safe and promising future for our children.

@GentlemanThunder7 I dont think any logical person thinks marijuana legaliztion will have no negative side effects. The question is whats worse? The fact is the billions of dollars are being spent in a failed attempt to protect people from a drug that is relatively harmless. If the policy was actually working and marijuana wasnt rampant maybe ud have a point but what we're doing right now clearly isnt working. In this case im siding with the devil I don't know cuz the one I know sucks balls.

@ahorvath96 Well Austin (I believe that's your name?), why is alcohol legal when it poses less of a threat than marijuana? Why was slavery legal once? Why was what Hitler did legal? No one said that laws always make sense or are always morally right, and the man who tells you that is nothing more than a moron. It would make much more sense if marijuana were legal and not alcohol. In fact, if alcohol weren't legal, I would even consider switching sides.

@GentlemanThunder7 spice is herbal inscense, there is a chemical they put in it called jwc (i think thats the name) and it gets you really high and has even killed people, but it is perfectly legal, and marijuana effects the brain less than alcohal.
