MSU vs Butler End of Game: Green fouled by Hayward

Early in the second half, the refs whistle Hayward for fouling Green in the post.

At the end of the game, the same play is run and again Hayward fouls Green--inconsistently, the referees decide to allow contact at the end of the game... that is until they immediately whistle Green for a reach-in foul for stripping Nored who was trying to dribble in traffic under the basket.

@bird33mchale32 For the most part, I agree with your comment. And I'll say this: MSU played flat pretty much the whole game and I can't sit here and say that they "deserved" to win this one. With that being said though, the criticism of the officials here is legitimate. There was a BLATANT foul with seconds to go in a FINAL FOUR game. When the stakes are this high, it can fairly be expected that the refs will get such an obvious call correct.

@Lochgelly1 Didnt deserve? The NCAA tourny isnt about deserving or not its about who wins and who doesn't. There are multiple bad calls in every game against both sides. This call just happened to be a at the worst call for MSU. I can tell by your comment that you are most likely a MSU fan who is a little bias. I can assure you though it all evens out.

i remember watching this game it was awesome. But seriously most refs let you play when you get close to the end of the second half. This call on the other hand should have been made. Remember though, there is multible bad calls in every game to both sides. Im sure it evened out, but it was in the worse possible time for msu

i know this was a long time ago, but i'm still pissed about it. that was such a foul and we should have made (and possibly won) the championship. then again, we shouldn't have even been in this situation if we had made free throws. oh well, we'll just have to wait a little longer for another title.
