i used a big set of water pump pliers worked just as well

Thank you for sharing bro, it helped me a lot. I could remove it easily that way with the same tools. Very practical skills to fix the bike surelly and to avoid wasting much time if you want or need to get a ride soon. Greetings from Argentina

yep a real money saver I'll buy a £30 monkey wrench instead of the £2 for the little tool to do the job properly! If you're saving on labour at the bike shop at least buy the right tools and do the job well - also saves loads of time arsing about.
