Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) is a poorly understood phenomenon involving the massive die-off of a beehive or bee colony. CCD was originally found only in colonies of the Western honey bee in North America, but European beekeepers have recently claimed to be observing a similar phenomenon in Poland, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain, with initial reports coming in from Switzerland and Germany, albeit to a smaller degree. The cause (or causes) of the syndrome is not yet well understood and even the existence of this disorder remains disputed. Theories include environmental change-related stresses, malnutrition, unknown pathogens (i.e., disease), mites, pesticides such as neonicotinoids, emissions from cellular phones or other manmade devices, and genetically modified (GM) crops.

  • that's one of the companies, there are many. run by senseless cold blooded idiots who think a good meal is a mutant chicken take out. hell, we gotta reclaim the power...

which brings me to remind you: in the mayan calendar we are in what is known as the spellweaving time...

  • thank you beemanlee.

any problem with bees is a serious problem. smoke can disturb them and right now we don't need to be upsetting them at all...

of course it's GM crops that are killing them like they're killing us, why have we followed those disgusting scientists so long? the western world has immersed itself in poison. fields of linseed are now the ugly rape, wheat that brings desertification is planted with abandon causing ugly allergies in humanity. big pharma has a lot to answer for.

  • bonnydayz,

Smoke from most fruit woods do not pose a serious problem with honeybees. When used in moderation, does little to stress the hive. Most of the other problems we have in the bee industry are a direct relation to the mite vectors in honeybee biology.

  • bonnydayz,

You are right about this practice of feeding sugar. It is an inverted (chemically altered) carbon chain and not a ballanced diet like natural honey that leaves no ash behind in the gut. Commerical Beekeepers that do feed their bees do it for several reason. The first is to make more money on honey sales and the second is to cause early spring build up to happen sooner for almond pollination in Febuary

Stress on the bees can be caused by a number of factors that have not been stated

  • I heard it originated in Australia.

  • b

bayer y e r this company has fucked our bees

when the beesa re gone we will have to choose from corn fish or potatoes to eat there wont be meat or pets or zoos. oh great the 2 things humans like animals and food are gone whata aworld

  • wow

  • things will get better though, eventually

[beekeepers blow smoke from bellows at hives, to 'calm' the bees, it's an ungracious practice and causes bees distress]
