The genus Cuterebra parasitizes household pets even in North America! Glad they don't like the taste of me...

  • DO NOT PULL OUT! DO NOT PUSH/SQUEEZE OUT! THE CUTEREBRA OR BOT FLY WILL RELEASE TOXINS INTO YOUR DOG AND WILL HARM YOUR DOG! TAKE TO A VET ASAP! WILL DESTROY TISSUE IF LEFT ALONE!

  • @LxAndxJenavive She turned out fine. The botfly came out on it's own. (See the follow up video.)

  • I've never heard of this until now, poor baby, please do a update on her condition, she's a beautiful dog, I hope that she will be ok!

  • @sweetesttaboo2k Update - good idea! She's doing quite a bit better now, but it was pretty gross for a while.

  • @praxisnode Some times in situations like this it's ok to use home remedies, of course if the bot is in or near a sensitive area like the eyes it wold be really important to get help.

  • Simply shave the hair to the skin all around the bot. Then place a heavily vaselined bandage over the wound. Wait 48-hours. The larvae will suffocate. Better yet, it will leave the hole trying to break through the vaseline and bandage so it will be dead and halfway out anyway. Remove it with tweezers, and save $100-150.00 vet bill.

  • @LxAndxJenavive never heard of that before, BTW how much do you charge for botfly removal? i figure your a vet

  • @LxAndxJenavive then why is it ok to pull them out of us ??? read before you comment and give advice

  • ..on a side note...if you use a nose hair trimmer or pluck your nose hair it will stop your nose from itching all the time. I actually know a guy who plucks them because you can see the stubble in his hose he says. He says it hurts like hell....but then feels so good when your done LOL..I guess you might say it's like getting a tattoo...another trick is to breath in the flame from a candle and burn them off LOL! Yea..know someone who does that as well!

  • Nice video actually. Thanks for pointing out they are in North America. For those who want to keep the flies and skeeters off their pups to begin with, there are now new products on the market now that claim to REPEL both biting flies & mosquitoes PLUS fleas and ticks.. I believe it also worms!! The one I'm thinking of is AdvanTIX (not AdvanTAGE). This is the all in one wormer/flea treatment and repellent. We don't have issues with ticks or skeeters in my parts-- dunno if its any good or not

  • at least the doggy is ok people !!

  • @LxAndxJenavive u can pull out a botfly and squeeze it out, the problem comes when u break the larvae, other than that ur fine to do so

  • my dog had a botfly in his neck, i took him to the vet, the vet took it out, i told them to burn the bitch, SLOOOOWLY! no bug touches my puppy =_=
