Regardless of the semantics of the heavy rolling device, this is still a very cool event. School of Visual Concepts (SVC) is awesome for holding this every year. Thanks SVC for the event. And thanks "dontspamlarry" for posting this film. =]

Steamroller = powered by steam. The engine in the roller is diesel (or less likely petrol). Therefore this isn't a steamroller.

In many parts of the world, the term steam roller is still used to refer to a road roller, regardless of the method of propulsion. This typically only applies to the largest examples (used for road-making).
