Can we stop projecting our world views onto this sketch and just enjoy a ridiculously obese man vomiting all over a fancy restaurant?

The smell was apparently abysmal when they were filming this.

That's because Steve-O was in a cubicle suspended by two large cranes with bungy ropes.
And inside the cubicle was all sorts of faeces. I felt sorry for the guy, up until he decided to walk into it.

That was one of the very few punch lines you will ever find in any Monty Python sketch. But their general policy was "No punch lines", that is why many of the sketches end with Graham Chapman as an officer interrupting and putting a stop to the sketch stating it is getting too silly. They used that when they couldn't come up with a good way to end the sketch, that or Terry Gilliam's animations.
