The Nine Nights of Mother Divine, Navaratri, were celebrated with a Sahasrachandi Mahayagya at Brahma Nivas, in Bhopal India, at the end of March and beginning of April 2009. At Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's request Brahmachari Girish Chandra Varma built Brahma Nivas as a home for Maharishi. It is now the residence of Brahmachari Girish ji who is the Chairman of Maharishi Shiksha Samsthan and head of Maharishi Ved Vigyan Vishwa Vidya Peeth (MVVVVP), the Maharishi Pandit organization.
The yagya featured 121 pandits who are now in residence at the National Headquarters of MVVVVP, located directly across the road from Brahma Nivas and only a km from the Maharishi Vidya Mandir School in Ratanpur with over 2600 students grades K-12 (10+2). The pandits' yagya in the morning was followed by tales of the Ramayana each evening, accompanied by presentations by special speakers, all in Hindi. The first speaker on the first night of the yagya was Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati, Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math. His entry to the audience hall is shown, followed by some clips from the last day of the yagya, the concluding circumambulation of the yagya enclosure, and then footage from the inauguration of a permanent Ram Mandir which stands right next to the temporary Yagya Shala, between it and Brahma Nivas.

Girishji has now announced that the yagya will continue with daily performance for an entire year.

Exterior views of Brahma Nivas and the small mandirs will be available soon on my Picasa page.

The three story building seen in the video next to the yagya shala is a new VIP guest house which was inaugurated on April 2nd with Griha Pravesh, as a part of the Navaratri cermonies.

These videos were taken with my Nokia 6233 cell phone camera so they are quite fuzzy in places. I am dreaming of having a good digital camera some day....
