  • Hi. It's a nice experience you have there but you need to be careful with the information you give to people:

    1. Those are not gold fish from the carp family. They are probably swordtail fish (Xiphophorus hellerii) from the Poeciliidae family. The gold fish you mencioned are Carassius auratus from the Cyprinidae family.

    2. N-P-K stands for nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K).

I am sorry if my written english is not the best and may have some mistakes.

    Cheers

  • And thanks to you for taking the time to read two comments down where I explained exactly those things.

  • They're not goldfish, they're platties.

  • Yeah, I have goldfish in the other tanks in the room and they were on my brain so I misspoke. Sorry.

  • Neat! One comment:

N,P,K stands for Nitrogen (N), Phosphorous (P), and Potassium (K).

  • I realized that goof after the fact...I would like to put a new version of this video up but I haven't had the time to reshoot.

  • Great job on the video, Mr. Anderson! I certainly hope your videos will help increase the public's exposure to aquaponics and lead to an expansion of the field in future years.

    Keep up the good work!

    greetings from Iran

  • Thank you Chris for a great video. Your explanation of the aquaponics concept is clear and helpful for beginners who are looking for good reliable and simple instructions on how to set up their first inexpensive aquaponics system with materials they can find around their home.

  • Excellent video.

  • this is great, thank you. you're very clear in your explanations.

  • as far as a light for leafy greens fluorescent lights work great especially 2 foot or 4 foot shoplight fixtures. thanks for the video.

  • Many think all you need to do is hook a DC air pump to a solar panel and 12 volt battery to make a solar aerator for aquaculture. Not even close. For the real deal go to 24-7solaraerator.

  • i like the part when he stops 2 look at his text message. LOL

  • I dont mean to be nitpicky, but those are platies, not goldfish. Probably a much better type of fish to use in the system considering goldfish can outgrow tanks that size, and they are generally very dirty fish that require good filtration.
