Listen to an old recording of the diaphone fog signal. Copeland Islands have 3 islands one of which is known as Mew Isle where the current light house is situated. The fog horn was discontinued on June 1991

  • @hellooldchap If I was one of those kids; I would cry! Especially when that last blast was sounded; it sounded like it was saying: "Bye goodbye goodbye goodbye".

  • Love that lonesome sound

  • That's an impressive lens. Nice article. A great experience for the kids too.

  • Great recording, shame it had to go ( they could of replaced it with an electric horn-Ireland still has many fog signals still in use) Obviously a very powerful horn to hear it in in Portpatrick ( bet that's quite disconcerting ) Nice lighthouse and thanks for sharing:)
