Nick Drake - A Stranger Among Us Documentary Part One

I think it's all good, it couldn't be painted, it's his letters, people, who knew him. His music paints him.

As much as I love Nick's music, this documentary seems very hastily and badly put together.

Poor Nick....if only he could have been a better songwiter. He couldn't write catchy tunes.Now Danny Whitten, there's a troubled genius who could write a nice catchy song that others covered. Go to any college in he country, you'll find half a dozen people who could write little songs like Drake's - little personal songs with funny guitar tunings, but nothing that really would have troubled the pop charts. If Nick hadn't died so young he'd have given up music and been a green keeper in Surrey.

As told in the Skin Too Few doc, Nick had trouble playing live mainly due to his many odd tunings (with not enough pre-tuned guitars at the ready) and getting discouraged about people not being quiet and listening. When you couple that with his chronic depression it's easy to see why he'd have problems. In my opinion he was a misunderstood genius, but without actually knowing the man it's hard to tell. Sure wish he was still around......
