Made base gear arrangement in Inkscape, then imported the .svg file into Blender, extruded, and animated them.

    Blender 3D is an open source 3D modelling and animation program. It's what I used to create the gears and animate them.

    Did you do the animation in the game engine?! Or did you do it manually or use a script?

    Those are great models! Gears are a pain to make and u did really great!!

  • As mentioned, the basic gears were done in Inkscape (they are bezier curves) and imported into Blender. The animation was all done with key frames and IPO stuff. Basically it was some fancy parenting, I think I used some empties along with that. Also, had to look up a formula on wikipedia to get the gear ratios right.
