As promised, Arcus Odyssey (Arcus Spirits in Japan) in its USA never released SNES form. A funny story, the game was ready for being published (fully translated), but Sega bought out the studio behind it's localization and the game never hit the shops, only being released in the west for Megadrive. I love this game! It's a single or two player isometric action adventure with a good story and interesting features. There aren't any differences gamewise from the Megadrive version, but the SNES version has amazingly good music, while unlike the Megadrive version, it suffers from some slowdowns in the later levels. A forgotten retro delight.

  • Do you know where I can get any prototype carts??

  • @tylerdurden1127 No, some people sell them or manufacture them online, but they're expensive.

  • How did you get a copy of the snes

  • @tylerdurden1127 It's a prototype translated western version ROM that was dumped years ago. A real shame, I love this game, would have bought it for sure if it were released on the SNES in Europe.

  • @ShiryuGL WOW, never new this version even existed. Big ups to you

  • @benjaminshinobi It's beta and was never released, sadly. =)

  • I really like the SEGA Genesis version of Arcus Odyssey because it sounds much better than the SNES version. On top of all that, this game was also on the show Nick Arcade.

  • I love the music in the Sega Genesis version! As a matter of fact, I like ALL of Motoi Sakuraba's music compositions on the Sega Genesis than the Super Nintendo. Don't get me wrong, the Super Nintendo is a great game system!

  • Castomira is so hot.

  • @purpleLotus722, a video challenge game! i know! i tried it for the first time today, gotta say, harder than they played it.

  • I just compared this version to the JP version, and it seems there are several differences/improvements in the JP version over unreleased US version:

    1. Slowdown has been eliminated

    2. Intro has re-drawn pink clouds and more detail in general

    3. Level start map has more color

    4. The sword in the password screen has a pixelization effect

    5. If the game loads a different area with the same music, the music doesn't restart itself

    6. A few re-drawn/re-colored sprites (notably the chests)

  • genesis used to have no censor 'cause it is from japan and/or a non video game family like Nintendo intended to be!!
