Lived there 18 years. Beautiful place, clean air, clean water, and LOTS of rain.

My favorite part as a kid was watching how close to the end of the runway (with nothing beyond that but water) we were when the plane finally lifted off, heeee.

Most of the fishermen with families don't live on boats. I lived there for 13 years, the town has been polarized by their whiny, often volatile tactics. Not so cool anymore. Glad your visit was nice.

Sitka used to be cool- now its just lame. Buncha crybaby commercial fishermen have ruined it.

Yeah its pretty cool. I was there for 2 weeks. Most of the fisherman I saw lived on their boats with their families. I saw a lot of kids going to school from the harbor. Neat place.
