For those who think the P3 is a Leslie you're wrong, it's a Nathan and was popular with southern pacific and it is personally one of my favorites...

@956rangoflex It's just the way it's built. The diaphragms in the P3 are a single stainless steel disk which is (details aside) unlike the K or the M. Newer P horns have two stainless steel disks which controls the squeak (the" technical" term is a chiff).

most of the UP and SP GP9's all the way up to the GP-40's had it but that was dependent on what the rail road wanted and could get cheep.

You should do whats called a 14L two long blasts a short and a long. BTW both horns sound nice!
