NEW YORK -- Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson was injured when New York Rangers player Wojtek Wolski hit him and was given a penalty for an illegal check to the head.

Alfredsson did not return to the game and head coach Paul MacLean told the Ottawa Citizen after the contest that that Alfredsson would be evaluated at home.

  • That was rather weak. When Wolski was on Colorado he NEVER did anything cheap. Look at the video, his elbows are in. Forsberg could have take much more abuse without flopping around on the ice. I love Alfredsson but he looked like a little girl here, especially since the culprit was Wolski.

  • @2anzzzKing Depends if you've been in the same situation before. Lucic was a little bit weird perhaps.

  • and pacioretty gets 3 games for the same hit... shanahan is so inconsistent.. this then tootoo gets 2 games but lucic gets nothing wtf.

  • @roch19pr maybe a few years ago this argument was ok but not today when theyre preaching taking out headshots from the game, just cause the guy's body position is vulnerable it dosent mean you have be dirty and try to give him a concusion. i think shanahan totaly messed up on this one, he's confusing hockey players on whats illegal and whats not.

  • WE NEED A REF. this is absolutey ridiculous how is he not suspended

  • Shanahan's a punk for not suspending Wolski. He makes an example of everyone else but let's this one go?!? I lost alot of respect for Shanahan because of his comments following this hit.

  • @23snacKs I'm trying to message you the link to the story, but it says your channel is not available :/

  • @23snacKs I can't post the link in the comment for some reason

"I said I understood, but I don't totally agree," Alfredsson said of the league's decision to levy no further punishment on Wolski. "I thought (Wolski) could have avoided the whole situation."

Alfie's a classy veteran, he's not going to blast the league. But what really tees me off isn't that this hit was a suspension, but that Sutton's hit was a 5 game suspension while this got nothing. Inconsistency is what I have a problem with.

  • @TheSkookumchuk OK, do I really need to quote Alfredsson's exact words?

"He explained their position and the process they went through with not going anywhere further with this and I said I understood."

"..I have no problem with their decision."

    That's what I'm talking about.

  • @23snacKs No he didn't, he said he didn't agree with Wolski not being suspended. That's the exact opposite.

    What are you talking about?
