Me playing Zolyx on Commodore Plus/4 - 1987
Released by Firebird Software in 1987
From the tape inlay:
The object of Zolyx is to fill in 75% of the screen by creating sections of blocks, while at the same time avoiding the balls. Contact with any of the balls, which are in constant motion, will result in the loss of a life.
On the fist level there are three balls on the screen and two in the background. For each level sucessfully completed, one ball is added to the screen.
The direction of the balls can be reversed by pressing the fire button. This facility can be used once on the first level and an additional time for each level complered.
A bonus is awarded for every 1% aboove 75% of the screen filled in. Up to a maximum of 99% of the screen can be completed.

Nope . .. the other way round is true, Zolyx is the VERY FIRST game that ever appeared of this genre. Qix is a clone, and so is the more graphic-rich Volfied.

Profound nostalgia !
I played this game on the C64 way back in my undergraduate days in Leeds in the early 1980s
.
But this clip is like showing people how NOT to play this game . . . I miss those magical narrow slots - I mean, where is that perfect 99% ?

Yay! Thought you'd never get there lol.
A game based on the classic Qix. But I've never actually played Zolyx. Nice to see a game using the hires mode for a change, it's a nippy little game.
