PSP 2000 VS PSP 3000 Video Test!

The video being used is a 30 minute commercial/anime for a product known as Afro-Ken. An interesting comparison actually...

Edit: In most CFW circles, the PSP models are referred to as thus.

1000 = PSP Phat/Fat.
2000 = PSP Slim and Lite/Slim/Lite
3000 = PSP Bright/Brite (The biggest difference being the BRIGHTER contrast.)

If it's a good enough term for "DarkAlex" than it is what I will refer to it as.

Well ofcoarse one of one of the psp is going to be britter depending on the battery level

The video is showing color saturation differences between two completely different models with different screens. Battery life is not an issue.

i wasn't saying that some psp 3000s wont suffer from this issue i was simply say that this is an issue that Sony put in the hardware on purpose for better response time in the screen and that Sony doesn't care if people don't like it

You do know the Engadget "source" in Japan references Engadget USA and vice versa, right? It's called circle sourcing. It's what they do when they want to make up news or hype minor defects as something "huge." That said, some units have the "issue" and others don't. There have been several small revisions on the 3000 since it was released in 2008. It's like the dead pixel "issue" on the DS. A few bad batches and the internet blows it out of proportion.

You forgot to mention that the PSP 3000 has bad-ass interlacing !!! Especially in the XMB menus !!!

Do you see any of it in the video? My PSP 3000 unit doesn't suffer from interlacing. Thus, no mention of it.

The extremely visible scan lines that aren't really visible in the video? The PSP 3000 had a bad batch of units near launch that had very noticeable scan lines. The screen on the 3000 is a drastic improvement over the muddy blur of the 2000.

Tbh.. I like scanlines. Gives it a CRT feel that I have grown to love with NES/SNES/... straight up to Wii. xD

I prefer the 2000 cuz the slim version has a motherboard capable of putting permanent CFW which the bright version doesn't you need to reboot the recovery file every time your system shuts off

My psp slim is running CFW 6.60 Pro-C fix 3 with permanent patch plus 32gb of flash storage and it's awsome
