I have the utmost respect for personal brands trying to make it these days, especially those who weren't born into life with a silver spoon and are still conquering road blocks that defeat all odds. It takes a special kind of someone to make things happen these days without the proper funding and/or support.
At the same time, however, what I still can't grasp is the amount of people out there that claim they are an expert at what they do, but then when push comes to shove, you find out that they are far from it. I am expecting experts when I reach out to someone for services. If you find me reaching out to you and you are not an expert, I would appreciate it if you just make it known. Maybe some other arrangement could be made. I would much rather be a friend on the social graph then to have the interaction be a waste of my time or yours. No sense being left off with a tainted relationship. Moving forward, it is completely understandable if you are still making your way to the top. We all are, kind of, right? You need to start somewhere! Just be honest and true to yourself, and make your level of expertise know from the get go. Don't try to ride the grey when you are already running across the field with bullets flying.
