A sneak peek sequence of a West Virginia Nights time lapse movie I've been working since the summer (it's taking so long to assemble due to uncooperative weather). This sequence was taken the night of Oct 22, 2011, during the Seneca Rocks Chili Cookoff/End Of Season party/festivities. There were so many climbers attending that quite a few parties were still up on the rock as night fell. You can see their headlamps as they work their way to various rappel stations and rappel back down to the ground. For scale, the South Peak where you see the headlamps in the first half of the video is approx 300' tall. The rocks are illuminated by the lights from the town of Seneca Rocks roughly half a mile away, to the right of the camera's POV.
The brightest star-like object that rises in the first second on the far left is Jupiter. The compact cluster of blue stars that enters at the upper left of the frame at about 0:13 is known as the Pleiades, or the Seven Sisters (and also as M45 in the astronomy world).
Details: Nikon D7000, 18mm lens, F/3.5, ISO 3200, exposure times 25 seconds with 5 second delay between shots. No music with this video (saving that for the final).
Awesome! How long was this over 1-2 hours??? Nice work.
