Coronation Te Deum William Walton

William Walton's Coronation Te Deum, originally written for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Here it is performed by the choir of Westminster Abbey at the Memorial Service for Laurence Olivier. I think it is the first performance of a reduced version of the full orchestral score, set for brass, timps, harp, organ and choir. The service was held on Friday 20th October 1989 and broadcast live by the BBC.

Yes I knew all about the Neary's not declaring fixing fees for the Abbey Choir and concerts. Like u said it was his own downfall.

Alas this was Westminster Abbey choir at it's best. And Martin Neary giving his best performance as Master of the Choristers then. I remember watching this service. Actually i enjoyed the choir singing the last musical item which was very tear dropping fear no more by Walton or Vaughan Williams I think.
