you probably get the white pictures when you don't set the shutter speed and the aperture at the right speed the aperture controls how much light is allowed through the lens and the shutter speed controls the speed of the picture....you can get a picture like this depending on the light you got around if you want to get something similar to this you need to set up ur cam somewhere dont move it (tripod), and set the shutter speed to 3" or 4" and the aperture will set it self automatically enjoy:)

how come my picture is always white when i switched it into manual mode?..:o
