"Gold Dust Twins Rag"

This rag was composed by Nathan Henry Johnson, AKA "Nat Johnson" (1883-1921). It was copyrighted in 1913 and published by Forster in Chicago.

It was BIG FUN as usual to see Andrew again at this years West Coast Ragtime Festival in Sacramento, California. Andrew is very enthusiastic about the early 20th century music and it is a pleasure to hear him perform, and talk about the music he plays. This video is a good example of it.

The Annual West Coast Ragtime Festival is held in the Red Lion Hotel on the weekend BEFORE Thanksgiving at Sacramento, California.

  • I can give it 5 stars, though! :-) I hear echos of the 2nd strain of Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag here... :-) I haven't yet had a chance to experience an Andrew Barrett live performance, but this video is IMPRESSIVE!! :-)

  • Howdy Bob!

Too bad you missed him in Sacramento.

You would have enjoyed his performances. I don't want to say to many nice things about him in these comments because he already gets so much praise that I'm worried he won't need me anymore. he he

  • Thanks!

  • Great job dude!!! ;-)

  • This rag was composed by Nathan Henry Johnson, AKA "Nat Johnson" (1883-1921). It was copyrighted in 1913 and published by Forster in Chicago. In my opinion, it is among his top 3 or 4 best rags. It has a lot of musical surprises and contrasts to offer which make it great listening for audiences even today.
