1969 is an Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini. It is loosely based on the novel Satyricon of Petronius, a series of bawdy and satirical episodes written during the reign of Nero and the Roman Empire.

SYNOPSIS: In the Satyricon, Italian New Wave director Federico Fellini picture the hedonistic, amoral, pre-Christian world of ancient Rome. Using the unfinished classical writings of Petronius as a guide, Fellini invented a culture full of strange dreams, distant characters and odd, grotesque events. Although the film does not conclude the plot or narrative structure, its constant are Gitonas (Max Born) and Encolpius (Martin Potter), whose unsavory encounters with sex, drama and religion are at the core film. Presenting a loosely structured episodic history of decadence and depravity in ancient Rome, Satyricon continues the adventure of two students that their way of dealing with a series of accidents, danger and sexual encounters. What results is often a journey through ancient Rome. This story is a perfect example of Fellini view, providing fantasy skills on the screen.
