Russia, China, US, UK are all Police State is evidence enough. I consider the news broadcasts that we get in the West is no different then the propaganda you get in other controlled states. Ask yourself why are the street cars in North Korea of German origin. What the est world wide fear the most is an independent thoughtful population. My second opinion is that having the cold war permanently created the military industrial complex, and look at how the military is lobbying the government to become a police state, because in a police state, weapon companies really benefit. So the cold war, multiple wars, international policemen were all an excuse to crush the republic and democracy in the US, to real over the people much more easily.

Considering the propaganda at every turn to discredit their economy, the fact Russia defaulted on their debts and the equally nationalistic tone in Moscow I think Putin is the real deal. He's looking for russian oligarch power. I don't think it's like Stalin had a private line to Henry Ford, I think it's more that they propped up someone who they knew would fail. At a poker table, you prop up weak players and therefore you keep the strong players from getting stronger.
