  • @Cadeyrnable I see your point there, but I'm thinking also of the classic beach landing, where, I can only guess, you want your Marines out of that big target fast, and on line, fast. But looking at the video at 1:44, it doesn't look like it's really slowing down the dismount.

  • @tommyzDad It's pretty much standard for heavily armoured IFVs and APCs. Just look at the Namer, it's got a similar sized hatch and, if there's one thing the Israeli's know how to do, it's wage urban warfare with minimal casualties on their side. If they're okay with it for urban combat, it's probably going to work just fine out on an open battlefield.

  • 1:04 "Basically, Gunny..." Once a marine, always a Marine! Oorah!!!

  • Really, a hatch through which they come out one at a time?

  • 4 terrorist watch this video.. :)

  • @samolet900 I read it and all it says are Marines need beyond horizon landing capability. It also says they will get an upgraded AAV. What I said first stands, EFV is gone.

  • @stalkingalizee I heard they are doing that as a stop gap as well as keeping AAVs in the arsenal even after "son of EFV" enters service. They ARE actually reviving the program.

YT won't let you post links anymore, so go Google these words verbatim:

"Marines’ Next Swimming Tank May Look Reeeaaally Familiar"

  • @samolet900 They canceled it 3 weeks ago because it is an unfixable money pit. Marines will get an upgraded AAV that is proven and easier on the wallet.
