glad to know there's somebody as big a nut about Joe South as I am. So many great songs!! Party People, Leanin' On You, Untie Me, Walk a Mile...all of 'em were a snatch of 60's Southern life. Great post!

birds of a feather was from 1961 and brown eyed girl was 1967. Joe South was a true original whose lyrics could pierce your heart (especially when you were a teenager). this music holds up throught the years and is still powerful.

@oldbeachman Hey oldbeach...Count me in my friend. I have followed Joe South for 40 years now and have never heard a song I didnt like by him. Great voice. This one is one of my favorites..But i really love "Greatest Love" and "Hush". So you are not alone in admiration of this great talent.

hi= i think you were responding to my post...yes, the 45 rpm version seems like it will end (like yours), but then breaks into a loud, sitar sounding 'extra' ending...since i have his greatest hits on CD, i would have to look for the 45, but if i can find it i may be able to send you the MP3....as i dont know how to post songs

this is the real deal,deep south usa,i can relate to what joe is singing,why wasnt this a number one?? strange world,have to be seen with the penguines etc....
