Hank Thompson was one of the finest and earliest performers of Country Swing Music. Upbeat and whimsical, his was party music, well suited to the "Honky-Tonks" of the Southwest U.S..
Although not often given the credit it deserves, Country Music is a clear progenitor of Rock and Roll. No better example than Hank Thompson can be found.
When I hear this I hear, clinking glasses, laughing women and a joyous party going on.

Hank just had a way with songs---someone else would have bombed with this tune here. His musicians knew exactly what Hank needed at every turn in the song, and gave it to him. Great old piece here.

@1954chard hey man i remember seeing hank at the starlight in Vegas in 73...there was some drung chick there too that fell down...I was maybe 12 or 13....dunno...was a good show from what i remember...lol

I was drinkin Jim Beam all night playin this at 5 in the mornin on the lake. The other 7 boats that were with us didn't sleep all night. Thanks to Hank, Conway, Johnny and to many others to list for stayin up with me all night.

....I can play and hear this tune over and over, and over again , and I don't ever get tired of it.... Hank's cd sits in my 6 pac player and never leaves it's place when I'm on the road , next one I'll usly play is "Hang- Over Heaven " , ...a few of the same licks by ole Merle .... but they can never be done as well .... ever ... -thanks for the post . -pwea , calgary .

@pwea1 A lot of folks in the U.S. don't realize how much rodeo and country/western tradition we share with our neighbors to the North. When we get away from our true roots, ya'all can be depended upon to provide a sanctuary for the music and culture, revitalizing it, keeping it alive and fresh. Thanks for commenting.
