This is raw video of some of the rough surf along the Outer Banks of North Carolina on Saturday, August 22, 2009. The video was shot in Rodanthe, NC. There were hundreds of people watching the houses in the video as water from the Atlantic Ocean was surging underneath during high tide. The home shown in the video was used in the movie "Nights in Rodanthe" and is a popular photo attraction for tourists in the area.

  • haha this is when i went to rodanthe!! <3 loved it!! we stayed about 4 houses down from here :) the next morning it was fun to walk around the dunes and what not...it was cool but scary at the time! :D

  • this is the house they used in nights in rodanthe! i went and visited it when it was like this, thank goodness it was moved! it was such a beautiful house!

  • @stormspinner1 lmao...thats not how close they built the damn house...thats after a hurrican washed away the beach...hense "Hurricane Bill EFFECTS in NC Outer Banks"

  • thats how we do it in the OBX...lots of people thinks were nuts for livig out here on our 'sandbar'...we know were just lucky :)

  • i stayed in that house before, it's called Serendipity, i believe they moved it to a different location now

  • @atlasdaddy no what's that?

  • They did relocate this house about 2 miles down the road....but if you have a house within a few miles of a beach, it's always in danger from a tropical storm or hurricane. The people who live along the coast know and accept those risks to live where they do. Like the people who live in "tornado alley" . In Biloxi, my brother's house was 4-5 miles from the beach but the surge from Katrina put 3 feet of water through his house.

  • Eventually the ocean will take those barrier islands and all that is one them....

  • why built on sand ?like the song goes "build your house on the rock" duh

  • @ela1978x Ever seen Nights in Rodanthe?
