hey sounds great.....can that instrument be configured to have a finger pattern similar to that of a recorder????......does one need to know several finger patterns for each different key one might play in with other musicians, or is there some kind of knob for different keys, using the same finger pattern????...aloha and mahalo, forest

Awsome, do you need to buy anything to make the sounds if you play it directly through an amp? Also, what should I get for it to do basic things?
-
YES!

can this be played with earphones that only you can hear it, or put volume down, so it can be practised at evening in apartments, without disturbing neigbours?
i would really want to play saxophone alto or tenor (dont know diference), but i would like to learn something before going practise realone with other people.

you can use your PC or headphones directly from the EWI.
It's best to have a small amp though. You can even use those little speakers that are made for iPods. I use these when traveling.

It's easier but different. Easier in that you don't need the lip that you need for Clarinet. There are no reeds to deal with no mouthpiece setup, just batteries. The octave shifts take time to master but it's easier than playing over the break on clarinet. The fingering is it's own or a sax style fingering that is easier than clarinet. It plays in all keys. There is a key transpose button that allows you to set it in any key. It defaults to C.

Firstly: OMG What is the "tdoo" sound.
Secondly: This guy is an excellent player, but compare him to J Kashiwa's carismatic playing -- why is Akai not sponsering J Kashiwa???
Thirdly: This demonstration appears to be using external sounds??? Is this true I wonder. OK the EWI is a midi controller, but I would like to know if/when he is using an external sound source.

1. vocal samples
2. Jeff is sponsored.
3. I think he says he is using external sounds. maybe not. It's pretty obvious he is using samples and not an analog synth like the built in.
