The 16th is legal and was properly ratified. All it did was remove the apportionment clause with regards to taxation.

Congress has had the power to lay and collect taxes, Congress has always had the power to lay and collect taxes and Congress will always have the power to lay and collect taxes.

You do not understand the meaning of either, or their application. No wonder you are confused. You state to uphold the Constitution, yet you admit the income tax meets neither requirement mandated by the Constitution (LAW). I can show that it's neither.

For it to be a direct tax it would have to be apportioned, which the 16th Amendment removed the requirement for.

For it to be an indirect tax, it would mean that all taxes are collected directly - which they aren't.
