You Found Me

I've entered this into the Final Fantasy contest '09

Character: Vincent Valentine

Back Story:

1st Class SOLDIERs are all assigned Turks. Cloud got Vincent. The two were like brothers, they were inseperable. Until Cloud and Vincent got a mission - protect her. Something went wrong...very, very wrong.

10 Years Later - Vincent's never forgiven Cloud.

Story:

Cloud calls up Vincent and tells him to meet him at the 7th Heaven, he has something he needs to get off of his chest. Vincent agrees, and heads out to meet him. Late, as usual, Cloud arrives. They stand silent, Cloud smokes his last cigarette and waits - Vincent looks like he has something to say...

"Where were you?" Vincent asks
"Ask me anything," Cloud says.
"Where were you?!" Vincent snaps, this time referring to something else.

Vincent tells Cloud what he had been doing the last 10 years, waiting for a call that never came. Cloud tells him, "there was a reason". "I'm waiting to hear it," Vincent replies.

Inside the 7th Heaven, Vincent brings up the dark past, his horrid memories of being surrounded on a battle field - cold, alone, covered in blood. Cloud wasn't there when he needed to be.

"Where were you?" Vincent asks again.
"Just a little late," Cloud replies.
"Then we're through talking, there's the door."

Cloud storms out, but knows it CAN'T end this way, he won't let it. He tracks down Vincent in a cold, desolate forest. Instead of arguing, Cloud lets Vincent get all his anger out. But he can't help but see Aerith, the girl he and Vincent were to protect, incased in a crystal coffin.

"Old ghosts," Vincent states, noticing Cloud staring at her. He explains how she was the only one who really knew who he was. Cloud starts to catch on, he sees how Vincent looks on at her. Still lost and insecure like 10 years ago, Vincent feels alone. He again asks Cloud, "where were you?" this time, angered. Cloud has the same response, "I was a little late - what does it have to do with me?"

Finally, Vincent tells him the truth. Cloud understands, he never knew his being delayed cost Aerith her life.

"I want to be forgiven," he states genuinely. "All you did was watch, and then..." Vincent goes silent, remembering the horrid vision in his mind. Cloud stares at the poor girl, "I let you die" he says apologetically to her.

Cloud fully understands now, he turns into the one that feels lost and insecure.

"Are sins, ever forgiven?"
"I've never tried"
"We'll I'm gonna try"
"We'll see about that"
"You mean?"
"Here's my decision....no!"

Three years after their last meeting, Vincent is reluctantly pulled into a war most similar to the battle thirteen years prior. This time, Cloud refuses to wait when Vincent needs him. The rest, ends in tradgedy.

So basically in the end, Vincent pays for his selfishness in not only losing his love, but his best friend who really did still care - he was blinded by rage over Aerith to see Cloud still was his friend.

Pretend at the end scene Zack is Cloud and Cloud is Vincent :3 I'm sorry HQ lags, my video card is on the verge of dying :/ so it screws things up when it saves in Vegas. I do plan on making a series with Fray songs and Vincent, this is the beginning. YT caught the full vid as a copyright infringement, so I may have to edit the songs in the future, lol, but over-all I must say this is one of my most creative projoects. I love the mixture of visual and audio words spoken between the two characters and how much anguish comes from the story, over-all it's quickly become a favorite of mine, I REALLY hope you all enjoy! ^-^

OH MY GOD. That was wonderful.

Especially the part that was like:

"Who I am (Current Vincent)

Who I'm not (Transformed Vincent)

That really did sum up Vincent!!

One question though... What did it mean when Vincent said "Well, here's my decision, 'No!' "

See, what it basically is trying to say is when Cloud asks if his sins (for leaving Vincent and having Aerith murdered) can ever be forgiven, he then says that his decision is to try (try to be forgiven, try to make amends, ect.). The last sentence is Vincent saying HIS decision is that he doesn't care what Cloud does, it's never going to change things and he could care less about what Cloud does :3 hope that makes sense
