Does anyone know the purpose of the tithe? The purpose of the tithe is for the Levite priest, because they couldn't get an inheritance. Tithing and paying bills are totally two different things. Christians talk about building up God's kingdom---why not build up with knowledge of His Word, with wisdom, compassion, love.

The WORD explains it clearly---
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.
Malachi 3:10
The purpose of the tithe is to keep the Lord's house functioning. Water is not free. Lights and electricity are not free. Take care of the Lord's house and He will take care of yours.
